Gerald F. DeWeerd, age 85, of Holland, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at his home. Born in Zeeland, he served in the U.S. Army during World War .ll. He was employed by Davis Die Cast until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the American Legion and Graafschap C.R.C.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; and children, Gary and Teri DeWeerd of Hagerstown, Maryland, Mark and Kathy DeWeerd of Saugatuck, Cindy and Rick Polinskey of Zeeland; grandchildren, Tammy, Kurtis and Christina DeWeerd, Cameron and Traci Polinskey, Randy Thompson, Tanya (Larry) Dordon and Marcus (Tara) DeWeerd; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, June Gebben of Holland
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at Dykstra Lifestory Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, 29 East 9th St., with Rev. Henry Vanden Heuvel officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, 7-9 p.m. at the chapel.
