Mr. Peter J. Timmer, aged 88, of Zeeland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday June 21, 2009, at the Christian Rest Home in the presence of his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mina Timmer and his second wife, Hermina “Mike” Timmer; and his siblings, Sarah, Grace, Margaret, Ed, Matt, Jim and Esther. He is survived by his children, Kenneth and Mary Jane Timmer, Marcia and Michael Raleigh; his grandchildren, Jennith (Samuel) Klooster, Sarah, Ellen and Mark Timmer; his brothers, John Timmer, Ivan (Marcia) Timmer; sisters-in-law, Connie Timmer and Marian Timmer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harm and Lorraine Slopsema, Junior and Marian Huyser; many nieces and nephews and many friends.
Peter was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. He served in the US. Army during World War II. Peter was a partner and co-founder of Centennial Securities. He was a member of Haven Reformed Church.
A service to celebrate Peter’s life will be on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m., Westend Christian Reformed Church, 1015 Westend NW, Grand Rapids. Burial in Rosedale Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet his family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, Alt & Shawmut Hills Chapel, 2120 Lake Michigan Dr. NW, Grand Rapids.
