Being sixteen and unemployed maybe I don't quite understand why people complain about what seems like little problems to me.
I was watching the local news the other day and people were on strike at the American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings Inc.
I guess they're done now after approving a new contract.
But what struck me was their comments they gave.
They were complaining about how they weren't getting paid as much as they use to.
Yet - even though with the pay cuts they still make quite a bit more money than most of us do.
One person commented on how they feel bad for their children now that they don't make nearly as much money as they use to, they feel bad when they have to walk into stores not being able to buy things for their kids to play with.
It kind of made me go, "wow."
Do these people think about families that make .. barely minimum wage and have kids they need to feed?
I kind of just thought it was silly.
It's like celebrities that are so caught up in their lifestyle that they think it's normal for one to have millions of dollars and live in a house ten times too big for them.
I could say a lot more but I don't want to offend anyone.
Not that those are my intentions it's just this whole situation makes me outrageous.
My mom was laid off work for almost a year and my dad, being in construction had no work to do whatsoever for the longest time.
Having no money come in whatsoever they still managed to keep me and my brother happy with our lives. They kept our stomachs fed and made sure no one was hungry.
And never did they complain one bit about not having enough money to buy things to keep me happy. To keep my brother happy.
Yet these people who are actually MAKING MONEY, have the NERVE to say they won't be able to afford luxuries for their children.
Maybe you shouldn't buy such expensive things for them.
I don't have anything against people with a lot of money.
My family use to be a pretty wealthy family too until things started getting slow in construction.... and my mom got laid off. -_-
I just think people need to think before they speak.
Especially when there are families that barely make enough money to support themselves.
But you don't hear them complaining.
They struggle through it and work hard together.
Through thick and thin.
Souke,
Thanks for your comments and thanks for your perspective. Unfortunately, in this economy, there are going to be many more people unable to afford the luxuries to which they have grown accustomed. Let's hope they handle it with the same class and dignity with which your family did.
Also, thanks for the pictures in the galleries.
Keep it up.
