A Great FindWell dogarama is finally over so I don't have an excuse to not write about crafts or antiques. Actually while the weather is still good there are yet a lot of garage sales around. Very recently I was driving out of Zeeland and just happened to glance to my right and saw that there was a garage sale going on. My eyes were immediately drawn to something bright blue. Right away I thought depression glass. Well of course I whipped right in there. Even before I was out of the car I could see that I was right. I was walking upon a set of cobalt blue Moon & Stars canisters (4of them). Of course they were one of the few things that did not have a price on it. Well I am really glad that I asked. When I was told that they were only $5.00, I immediately replied OK I'll take them. When I really looked them over, I discovered that one of them had several cracks. Also The inside of the lids were quite chipped, but that dosen't matter too much. Eventually I will find another one the same size as the cracked one and replace it. Then while the set is not quite perfect, it will be a great addition to my already quite large collection of Moon and Stars pieces. So I guess the moral of the story is that once again you just never know when or where you will find your next treasure. I'm sure that I'm not the only one with stories of good luck or even something we thought was great that turned out not to be. I have far too many of those stories. Just add a comment to this blog and share your story with the rest of us. I would love to hear someone elses story. ed

I read your blogs and have not heard anything about how the day lily turned out. I love your antique story. I am sure we all have had a experience with garage sales. The phrase other people's trash can be turned into a treasure is true. I have not heard the term Moon and Stars. Is it depression glass? I love garage sales but look for containers for my garden among other things. I like to reuse and recycle other people's junk. I have been called a bag lady but don't mind a bit. I found this rusty old tractor seat that was on a trash pile. My son bolted it to a wood 4x4. I painted it a very bright yellow and am going to use it in my garden along with my yellow bird house.
I really do not know your connection with downtown Zeeland. How do you fit in the town of Zeeland?
